Smartphone thermal camera with a manual-focus lens — sharp from 10 cm to across the room
The HIKMICRO Mini2Plus V2 turns an iPhone, Android phone or tablet into a full 256 × 192 thermal camera. Where the standard Mini2 V2 uses a fixed-focus wide lens, the Mini2Plus V2 adds a manual-focus 25° lens, so it stays sharp on a single PCB component at close range and on a distribution board measured from a safe distance. It is powered entirely by the host device — nothing to charge, nothing to wait for, and it weighs 24 g.
Key features
-
256 × 192 VOx detector — 49,152 measurement points with NETD < 40 mK, enough sensitivity to resolve temperature differences below 0.04 °C
-
Manual focus lens — 25° × 18.8° field of view, minimum focus distance 0.1 m; the focus ring is what lets you work both close-up and at distance
-
Macro capability — resolves detail down to roughly 340 µm when used with the optional desktop stand bracket, for component-level electronics work
-
SuperIR image enhancement — applied to both live view and saved images for cleaner edges and easier interpretation
-
−20 °C to 400 °C measurement range — accuracy ±2 °C (−20 °C to 100 °C) or ±2 % (100 °C to 400 °C)
-
25 Hz refresh rate — smooth panning and usable thermal video, not a stuttering frame every half second
-
3-in-1 connection — USB-C for Android and USB-C iPhones, plus an included Lightning-to-USB-C adapter for older iPhones
-
Battery-free operation — 360 mW draw from the phone, so a day of intermittent inspection barely touches the handset's battery
-
Built for the job site — IP40-rated aluminium alloy housing, tested to a 1 m drop
-
Full measurement and reporting toolset — centre, hot and cold spot plus three user spots, three boxes and one line; HIKMICRO Viewer on mobile and HIKMICRO Analyzer on Windows for reports
Typical applications
- Electrical panels, fuses, terminals and cable connections
- Component-level electronics and PCB fault finding
- HVAC and ventilation troubleshooting
- Building envelope surveys — insulation gaps, thermal bridges, air infiltration
- Underfloor heating loops and concealed pipework
- Damp and water ingress tracing
- Motor, bearing and drive-belt condition checks
- Solar PV panel hotspot inspection
